Pre-k Class
Discovery Child Development Center offers ahalf-day morning pre-k class for children 4 and up with a 10:1 student to teacher ratio. Starting Fall of 2012 we will also offer a half-day afternoon pre-k class with a 10:1 student to teacher ratio. Children in our pre-k class work independently at centers such as math, writing, computer, discovery, and art. Students also participate in small-group reading, language arts, writing, math and early robotics lessons to move students forward at their skill level. During whole group time, children engage in storytelling, music, movement and Spanish lessons. Additionally, children work with their peers and teachers in project-based activities throughout the school year. Through this approach, not only do our pre-k students develop their literacy, oral language, writing, mathematical and social skills, but are engaged and motivated learners that learn to ask questions and seek answers. Our morning pre-k program meets from 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., and parents are able to enroll their child 5 days a week (M-F),
2 days a week (T and Th) or 3 days a week (M, W, and F).
Our afternoon pre-k class will meet 4 days a week (M- Th) from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Children need to be potty trained and 4 years old by August 31st to enroll in our pre-k classes. Children younger than our age requirement will be considered case by case after a consultation with the family.
