Preschool Class
Discovery Child Development Center offers a half-day morning preschool class for children 3 and up with an 8:1 student to teacher ratio. Starting Fall of 2012 we will also offer a half-day afternoon preschool class with an 8:1 student to teacher ratio. Children in the preschool class work independently at centers such as writing, math, discovery, and art. Preschool students also participate in small-group language arts, reading, math and writing lessons to meet individual educational needs. During whole group time, children engage in storytelling, music, movement and Spanish lessons. Additionally, children work with their peers and teachers in project-based activities throughout the school year. Through this approach, not only do our preschoolers develop their literacy, oral language, writing, math and social skills, but are engaged and motivated learners that learn to ask questions and seek answers. Our morning preschool class meets from 8:45 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. Parents can enroll their child 2 days a week (T and Th), 3 days a week (M, W, and F), or 5 days a week (M-F).
Our afternoon preschool class will meet 3 days a week (T, W, and Th) from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Children need to be potty trained and 3 years old by August 31st to enroll in our preschool classes. Children younger than 3 years old by August 31st will be considered case by case after a consultation with the family.
