Discovery Child Development Center is an independently owned preschool and private kindergarten serving families in Cary and Morrisville since 2010. We offer a hands-on, project-based learning approach for children ages 2–5, nurturing their natural curiosity through innovative, child-led exploration
Our Story and Mission
Discovery Child Development Center was created with a simple mission: to provide children with a strong foundation for lifelong learning through hands-on exploration and discovery. We wanted a place where children would be excited to come to school every day and make connections to their lives.
Our project-based learning philosophy encourages children to ask questions, investigate, experiment, and discover answers through collaborative exploration. This approach develops critical thinking skills, creativity, and confidence that will serve children throughout their educational journey

What is Project-Based Learning (PBL)?
At Discovery, we don’t just teach lessons, we launch investigations. PBL is a child-led approach where our students explore real-world topics—like "How do birds build nests?" or "How does a garden grow?"through hands-on projects.
- Active Exploration: Children are spending their days building, testing, and creating.
- Deep Inquiry: We encourage children to ask "Why?" and "How?", developing the critical thinking skills they’ll need for elementary school and beyond.
- Collaborative Play: Projects often require teamwork, teaching children how to communicate ideas and solve problems together.
- Documented Growth: You’ll see the journey through photos, drawings, and the "project walls" displayed throughout our classrooms.
Our Experienced Teaching Team
At Discovery, stability is our foundation. While the national childcare industry faces high turnover, our team stays. More than 50% of our teachers have been part of our family for 8+ years, with several dedicated educators here since our very first day in 2010. With a 9-year average teacher tenure, your child will benefit from experienced mentors who truly know our community.

Located at 11000 Lake Grove Boulevard, at the corner of Davis Drive and just steps from the Cary town line, our facility is perfectly situated for a convenient commute. Our classrooms are large, bright, and filled with natural wood furniture and high-quality manipulatives. Every space is intentionally designed to support whole group, small group, and individualized instruction, allowing our teachers to meet every child exactly where they are.
